About NHSG

NHSG supports, nurtures, and challenges every girl to be herself – to be everything she can be

"Our aim is to be champions of excellence in all-girl education, empowering girls to be leaders, trailblazers, and world shapers.

At Newcastle High School for Girls, we are committed to offering an outstanding all-girl education from age 3 to 18, allowing all girls to flourish academically and pastorally and guiding them to their place in the world.

Our ethos is based around our belief that every girl has huge potential arising from her unique character, strengths and attributes. We support, nurture and challenge every girl to be the best version of herself, to achieve her potential and to approach life with real enjoyment and enthusiasm.

Every day at school we introduce our three year-olds to the wonders of the world, spark the intellectual curiosity of eleven year-olds, and intellectually stimulate and challenge our Sixth Formers to engage with their learning at the highest possible level.

The success of our approach is reflected not only in outstanding examination results at GCSE and A Level but also in the girls’ growth in knowledge, skills, aspiration and confidence.

At NHSG, your daughter will be inspired by teachers who are experts in tailoring the learning experiences to the needs of girls. Through our bespoke curriculum, which goes beyond national requirements, your daughter will discover her strengths and find her niche. She will study and grow in an environment characterised by high academic standards, excellent teaching, outstanding pastoral care and first-class facilities and resources.

She will learn without limits. And as one of the schools of the Girls’ Day School Trust, she will be part of a unique family of schools that puts girls first in every way and offers an array of opportunities beyond those available in the North East.

I do hope you will visit the School soon so that you can experience our happy yet purposeful atmosphere, and see for yourself the sheer joy of our pupils as they learn and grow together in our special community."
